Step Two

We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

Question 1: What do you mean, “a Power greater than ourselves”?
Answers:

It was starting to occur to me toward the end of my drinking career that there was something enormous missing from my life. Maybe I had made a mistake when I kicked God out of my life so many years ago. Maybe this Higher Power was something I needed; maybe this was what was missing. These were really good thoughts.

I had a lot of trouble with this step. I kept asking my sponsor "how am I supposed to find this Higher Power?" All he would say was, "keep coming back." Of course, this infuriated me. I stopped asking but kept coming and finally it began to dawn on me. The people I kept seeing in meetings definitely had something I didn't. Could this Higher Power be involved? They kept saying they were "connected". I decided to give their Higher Power idea a try. After all, what did I have to loose?
