About Step Forums

The Step Forums are an on-line way to exchange information about the steps. We all have questions as we work the steps for the first time. The answers we are given can be extremely important to our early recovery. Often we find ourselves looking at some aspect of a step in a new and different way as we use the steps as guides to living a life of recovery. Here you can share those insights and questions with a thoughtful recovery community.

All questions will receive a response. Questions and answers likely to be of help to others in recovery will be added to the Step Forum discussions on the Steps Foundation website. We encourage you to participate. Your question or answer just might be the key that helps someone to “get it” and become another miracle of recovery.

Step Two

We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

Step Three

We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him.

Step Four

We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Step Five

We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Step Six

We became entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

Step Seven

We humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

Step Eight

We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.

Step Nine

We made direct amends to such people wherever posssible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

Step Ten

We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

Step Eleven

We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood him, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry that out.

Step Twelve

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics (drug addicts, etc.), and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
